Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that will enhance the growth of all children. Our class schedule, materials, and teaching styles all make up our curriculum. We are a play-based school, with opportunities for both group and individual play. Our schedule allows us intentional teaching, guided teaching, as well as observation time. We have theme-based planning, where we identify a theme, and break it down into many areas (Science, Music, Literature, Art, etc.)
This allows the children to have a more detailed learning on a specific subject. We also use different resources in our school to expand on our themes. These include My Big World-Scholastic, Scholastic Book Sales, Handwriting Without Tears, Size Matters Handwriting Program, The Gilford Public Library, The Gilford Youth Center and appropriate I-Pad Apps. In addition, we follow the NH Early Learning Standards, the NH Kindergarten Readiness Indicators, and we do individual assessments, in both classes, twice a year.
